I’ve been hat crazy lately, finding any and every excuse to buy new beanies, snapbacks or fedoras. Obviously a beanie isn’t the most practical choice in headwear when it’s 35 degrees celsius outside, but I can’t get hats off my mind (pardon the pun).

Scrapping the beanie, here are some styles that are beach ready for this summer. I’m picturing each of these with a cute bathing suit (future post? Stayed tuned.), denim shorts and flip flops. Pick whichever suits your style best and stay cool this summer. Add a couple Coronas and you’ve got yourself a party!

Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve done an OOTD post and the warm weather was tantalizing me to get outside and shoot some photos today. I kept my look very simple. The print and colours in these shorts are so bold and loud for me, it’s a huge change-up from the dark, gothic tones I wore all winter long.

I’m usually not as entranced by Vanessa Hudgens’ boho-hippy style (like, enough with the Coachella photos, people)… But this look has me hooked to the point where I feel inclined to share.

If you noticed I didn’t do a “March Favourites” video this month, it’s because the majority of my shopping lately has been for beauty and I haven’t acquired much in the fashion department! Oh, the humanity!

I have, however, been having fun with makeup. All five of the products you’re looking at (above this thing here. You know, in the photo. Up there.) are relatively new to me and are currently a staple in my makeup routine. I’m here to tell you why they’re so great!

Benefit’s The POREfessional
Now, technically, this is a primer because it goes on before foundation… But I prefer to call this “magic in a tube”. One little dab and your pores disappear! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I swatched it in Sephora, so when my Beauty Insiders points hit 100 and this was an option… Well, you know the rest.

Maybelline ColourSensational Vivids in “Vibrant Mandarin”
We talked about this not too long ago! (If you missed it, click here.) I’m loving this shade for Spring because it’s unexpected. I also think it plays up my green eyes nicely. The formula on these lipsticks is “ehhh, okay” compared to the higher end ones in my collection, but it’s moisturizing and bright… And doesn’t look gross as the colour fades away.

St. Ive’s Oatmeal and Shea Butter Lotion
This was picked up on an emergency run to Wal Mart because my hands were dried and cracking to shreds! Now I’m so happy I found this. It’s a body lotion, yes, but it’s quick drying and perfectly, deliciously fragranced. I love smelling like this stuff, and my skin drinks it right up.

Tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in “Frisky”
Believe it or not, this is my first tarte product. The swooning of beauty gurus everywhere over tarte’s blushes had me convinced that this was a good buy… But it wasn’t until I tried it for the first couple times that I realized how great this product really is! It’s highly pigmented, is a flattering colour, and has just the right amount of shimmer (so you don’t look like a disco ball). I can’t stress enough how much this blush is worth the splurge!

Maybelline Baby Lips in “Pink Punch”
This lip bomb smells like Strawberry Lemonade to me, so “Pink Punch” is an acceptable name. This leaves my lips feeling moisturized and it’s extremely lightweight. The hint of colour is really nice too—this isn’t your average Chapstick. Plus, it’s made with SPF 20 sunscreen. Perfect for the warm weather ahead.

Trending in both beauty and fashion for Spring 2013: Orange lips!

Stars like Jessica Alba and Rihanna have been spotted sporting these bold and bright shades, and, after a cold winter of dark lipsticks, this is the perfect colour to warm your face back up as the sun reemerges.

Here are few tubes that you might want to try: (from left to right) Kat Von D’s Painted Love Lipstick in “A-Go-Go”, MAC’s Matte Lipstick in “So Chaud”, and Yves Saint Laurent’s Volupté Sheer Candy in “Tangy Mandarine” (no.10). The YSL one is a great alternative if you’re nervous about a bold lip—this one’s sheer and less pigmented with a shimmer.

Further proof that orange lipstick is smokin’ hot right now? Maybelline, the makeup sponsor for World MasterCard Fashion Week, handed out heaps of their Colour Sensational Vivids lipsticks in “Vibrant Mandarin” last week during Toronto Fashion Week. I scooped a couple up!

When I was handed this lipstick, I didn’t think it would suit me at all. After trying it, I saw that I was wrong. Since then, I’ve seen this colour everywhere from the runways to episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians!

The Maybelline Colour Sensational Vivids are a cheaper drug store alternative to getting your orange lipstick on. While it isn’t as long-lasting as my higher end lipsticks, I find this line is hydrating for the lips and the colours are perfect for Spring.
